What’s on in 2019

Throughout the year, there are a lot of great activities organised in East Devon, on the Jurassic Coast and in Exeter. There are a selection of them listed below - in calendar order - all are within 45 minutes driving time from us.


  • Vintage Weekend at South Bay Holiday Park - Here, you will be able to have your hair and makeup done vintage style by The Beehive beauty parlour. 29th March - 1st April
  • The Secret Garden Boho Ball - The event will be set within the exclusive and stylish Glasshouse at Anrán, where canapés, a 2-course feast, drinks and entertainment can all be enjoyed against a backdrop of stars and evening candlelight. 23rd March
  • Dartmoor Bike Fest - Come and celebrate all aspects of cycling with a day full of exciting activities at the picturesque, River Dart Country Park. 30th March


  • Best of Devon Gin Festival - The Best of Devon Gin Festival showcases a wide range of the best local gins from Devonian and Cornish distilleries to provide an afternoon of entertainment and culture. 19th and 20th April
  • Find the Easter Chicks, Clovelly - Children receive a village map on entry to Clovelly. This is to mark the location of a number of Easter chicks perched up and down the cobbled High Street to the quay.
    If they spot at least 10 chicks they can return the map to the Visitor Centre reception to win an Easter egg. If they spot all 15 chicks, they will win a bigger prize. 8th - 22nd April
  • Easter Grotto and Choc Egg at the Milky Way - Journey down the rabbit hole to the unique Easter Grotto to collect your egg direct from the Easter Bunny and take part in the eggciting Easter Treasure Hunt with fantastic prizes up for grabs. 11th - 24th April


  • Devon County Show - Visiting Devon is all about experiencing what the south west does best: agriculture. The Devon County Show is one of the region’s biggest calendar events of the year and is the idyllic way to say hello to the warmer months in a quintessentially British way. 16th, 17th and 18th May
  • BMAD Motorbike Festival - Join this huge music and entertainment festival, raising money for charity while having a blast!
  • Dart Music Festival - With over 100 performances spanning almost every musical genre, the festival offers an eclectic mix of orchestral, rock, choral, blues, opera, folk, and jazz performances at a variety of indoor and outdoor venues. 10th - 12th May


  • Brixham Trawler Race - The huge trawlers are decorated with bunting and need to complete two laps around the Bay in this race. The quayside is full of additional activities, all raising money for local charities. 15th June
  • MTV Music Week -  This week will see a huge range of acts perform in the city at live evening shows, along with inspirational daytime events targeted at young people with a passion for music. 5th - 8th June
  • Axe Vale Show - Axe Vale Show is a weekend long event run on the Showground just outside Axminster. Marquees and stalls full of foods, drinks, crafts , plants and flowers and much much more. Dog Show both days. 22nd and 23rd June
  • The Contemporary Craft Festival - The Contemporary Craft Festival has grown from 4,000 to 8,000 visitors since it started and has become one of the most prestigious and highly acclaimed craft events in the UK. 7th - 9th June


  • Beekeeping Experience with Lunch at Gidleigh Park - Join beekeeper, Tom Waterfall, as he introduces you to the world of the honeybee, learning more about how to protect the ever-shrinking biodiversity that bees and other pollinating insects depend upon. 10th July
  • Chagstock Music Festival - Open Air live music festival on the north edge of Dartmoor with panoramic views. In its' 13th year, Chagstock is a family friendly event with kids' entertainment, caterers and traders, Bar tent, camping and Glamping as well as 3 stages of live music. 19th and 20th July
  • Tiverton Mid Devon Show - The best one day agricultural show in the west! The Mid Devon Show offers a fun day out for all the family. 27th July
  • Exeter Craft Festival - This three day Festival of Arts and Crafts is a celebration of the very best artists and makers based in the South West is one of the major highlights of the Exeter's cultural calendar, taking place in the historic setting of Exeter’s Cathedral Green. 4th - 6th July


  • Sidmouth Folk Festival - Sidmouth Folk Week is a unique week-long seaside celebration of music, dance and song taking place in the charming East Devon regency coastal resort – a must in every festival goer’s annual diary. 2nd - 9th August
  • Suspended Sea Creatures and Meet the Curator - Make a realistic or imaginary underwater friend to dangle in a display from our cafe balcony. Bring in your special beach finds to show and discuss with Holly, RAMM’s curator. 9th and 10th August
  • Salcombe Regatta – Salcombe Town Regatta will be regaling visitors and local residents alike with a typically packed programme of fun and festivities. From sandcastle competitions to the harbour swim, it's all an opportunity for salty seaside fun. 3rd - 10th August
  • Devon Street Food Festival - Running 12 noon-10pm daily, an outstanding array of different food will be on offer, from fresh stone-baked pizza to gooey gourmet Mac 'n' Cheese, and from sugary doughy Churros to crispy Arancini balls. 2nd - 4th August


  • Autumn Fayre - Enjoy local craft stalls, live music, face painting, town centre games, balloon modelling and much more at Newton Abbot Autumn Fayre, held in Newton Abbot Town Centre. 7th September
  • Devon Open Studios – This is an exceptional chance for the public to enjoy art at its origin. A cornucopia of art will be on offer across Devon when resident artists and artisans open their studios to sell their individual artworks to the public. 7th - 22nd September
  • Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival - features inspiring talks, readings and conversations with talented authors, scientists, playwrights, historians, broadcasters, economists, comedians and rising literary stars. 18th - 22nd September
  • International Agatha Christie Festival - Agatha Christie is Torquay's most well-known resident and the best selling author of all time. Each year we have a number of events on and around her birthday, which falls on 15 September. Agatha and literary fans rejoice and find the right event for you to get involved with! 12th - 15th September


  • Powderham Castle Food Festival - Set in an historic deer park on the banks of the River Exe, Powderham Castle provides a wonderful location for a celebration of glorious food. 5th - 6th October
  • Dartmouth Food Festival - The Dartmouth Food Festival is back for 2019 with a tempting mix of delicious regional food and drink, chef demonstrations, workshops, lively food debates and fun for all the family. 18th - 20th October
  • Apple Day - It is Apple Season, so we are holding our Fourth Apple Day with lots of lovely apple crafts and activities. 23rd October


  • Ottery St. Mary Tar Barrels - The world famous event, starting at 4 pm and continuing until midnight. This event needs to be seen to be believed. 5th November
  • Clovelly Herring Festival - Clovelly Herring Festival always falls in November. It's the time of year when our historic village celebrates the coming of the great "Silver Darlings", better known as Herring. 17th November
